Paris Saint-Germain are expected to have two players in France’s starting line-up against England. For the 2026 World Cup third-place play-off in Miami this Saturday, Didier Deschamps is reportedly preparing nine changes to his team.
Lucas Hernandez and Warren Zaïre-Emery are both tipped to start. It will be an opportunity for the two PSG players to end the tournament with valuable minutes, while several regular starters are expected to be rested following the semi-final defeat to Spain.
Zaïre-Emery Set for First World Cup Start
In midfield, Warren Zaïre-Emery could make his first World Cup start. The PSG youngster is expected to partner N’Golo Kanté in a completely reshaped double pivot. Lucas Hernandez should also feature in defence, either at left-back if Maxence Lacroix partners Ibrahima Konaté centrally, or at centre-back with his brother Théo starting on the left.
Mike Maignan and Kylian Mbappé are expected to be the only players to retain their places from the semi-final. Mbappé remains in contention for the tournament’s Golden Boot, while Maghnes Akliouche and Rayan Cherki are also likely to start behind Jean-Philippe Mateta or Marcus Thuram.
France’s probable line-up: Maignan – Gusto, Konaté, Lacroix, Lucas Hernandez – Zaïre-Emery, Kanté – Akliouche, Cherki, Mbappé – Mateta or Thuram.
