Paris Saint-Germain completely collapsed in the final seconds against Paris FC. Final score: 2-1. Here are the PSG player ratings.
After long believing they were heading for a narrow win thanks to Bradley Barcola, Luis Enrique’s men eventually lost 2-1 at Jean-Bouin after a deadly final counterattack finished by Gory in stoppage time. A defeat with no consequence in the standings, but one that raises a few concerns before the Champions League final against Arsenal F.C.
PSG Player Ratings After the Paris FC Defeat
PSG had nevertheless regained control after a difficult first half. Shaken by Paris FC’s intensity, the Parisians relied on several important saves from Matvey Safonov before Barcola opened the scoring after the break from a perfect Fabian Ruiz cross. But the substitutions and a drop in intensity brought PFC back into the game, with Gory equalising before punishing Paris at the very end after a lightning counterattack led by Kebbal and Koleosho.
Matvey Safonov (7): several big saves early on to keep PSG alive. Helpless on both goals conceded. Warren Zaïre-Emery (5): active going forward but sometimes exposed defensively. Substituted before the end. Marquinhos (7): PSG’s defensive leader, with several crucial interventions in his box. Zabarnyi (6): solid in duels and fairly reassuring at centre-back despite PFC’s pressure. Dimitri Lucea (3): a very difficult evening for the young full-back, often targeted and struggling before going off at half-time after a blow to the head. Vitinha (5): generally quiet despite a few good technical sequences and a dangerous free-kick.
Beraldo (5): useful in build-up play and pressing, but sometimes overwhelmed by the opposition’s intensity. Fabian Ruiz (7): very clean technically and provided the assist for Barcola’s goal. One of PSG’s best players. Bradley Barcola (7): scored and was very active going forward, bringing plenty of pace and danger. Ousmane Dembélé (not rated): forced off injured in the first half, creating major concern before Arsenal. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (6): produced a few dangerous bursts and was involved in PSG’s goal. Gonçalo Ramos (4): came on early after Dembélé’s injury but had little influence despite a few interesting lay-offs. João Neves (5): a good cameo with several attacking runs and a dangerous shot. Lee Kang-in (4): a quiet appearance in the final third of the match. Mbaye (5): interesting with his sharpness and runs, even if he lacked precision with the final ball. Dro Fernandez (5): showed personality on the ball and linked up well in tight spaces.
