PSG Have No Room for Joel Ordoñez

Paris Saint-Germain could be about to miss out on one of its defensive transfer targets. Reportedly monitored by Luis Campos in recent weeks, Joel Ordoñez now appears to be edging closer to a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Ordoñez is unlikely to join his fellow Ecuadorian William Pacho in Paris. At just 22 years old, the Club Brugge center-back has established himself as one of the most promising players in his position in Europe. His performances in Belgium and in European competitions have attracted the attention of several major clubs.

Tottenham Leading the Race

According to CaughtOffside, Tottenham are currently in pole position to complete the transfer. The North London club is eager to strengthen its defense this summer and has reportedly made the Ecuador international one of its top priorities. Club Brugge, long reluctant to sell its young star, could now accept an offer in the region of €45 million, a fee that remains within reach for several European heavyweights.

PSG continue to monitor the situation but seem to have taken a step back in the race. Luis Campos already has several options in central defense and does not appear to view Ordoñez as an absolute priority. With Marquinhos expected to stay in Paris, the move looks increasingly complicated.

Tottenham are not alone, however. Liverpool have reportedly revived their interest after a period of reflection and are once again keeping a close eye on developments. Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Juventus are also said to be monitoring the defender, although Tottenham and Liverpool currently appear to be leading the chase. Unless there is a dramatic turnaround, Joel Ordoñez seems far more likely to end up in the Premier League than at the Parc des Princes.
