Long expected to leave after a difficult first season at Paris Saint-Germain, Lucas Chevalier now appears to have chosen a different path. The French goalkeeper is reportedly set to remain in the French capital despite an uncertain situation.
Left out of the 2026 World Cup squad and currently serving as PSG’s second-choice goalkeeper, Chevalier has endured a frustrating campaign. Signed from Lille with the reputation of being the club’s future number one, the 24-year-old never managed to fully meet expectations and gradually lost his place to Matvey Safonov, who established himself as the starter.
Chevalier Ready to Fight for His Place
This situation naturally attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, many of which were willing to offer the French international an opportunity to revive his career elsewhere. A transfer seemed increasingly likely just a few weeks ago.
However, according to several indications from within the club, Chevalier has now decided to continue his PSG adventure. The goalkeeper reportedly wants to embrace the challenge and attempt to overturn the current hierarchy next season. He is said to have held serious discussions with Luis Enrique, suggesting that nothing has been definitively settled.
It is a strong statement of intent from the Frenchman, who remains determined to establish himself at PSG despite a particularly challenging first year. Chevalier now hopes to use the summer preparation period to convince the coaching staff and reclaim a status currently held by Matvey Safonov.
