Paris Saint-Germain will have no time to rest. After a remarkable season and a World Cup that is still involving several of their international players, the capital club is already preparing for a very busy return. And August is shaping up to be intense.
The restart is scheduled between July 20 and 25 at the PSG Campus, but without the players still involved in the World Cup. The Parisian squad is therefore expected to regroup gradually, with an incomplete roster at first and several returns only expected in early August.
Pre-season fixtures and early challenges
PSG will then play two friendly matches. The first will take place on August 5 against RCD Mallorca at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix. Three days later, Paris will face a much more prestigious opponent, Manchester United, on August 8 in Sweden.
The schedule will then intensify significantly. The last World Cup players are expected back on August 10, just two days before the UEFA Super Cup against Aston Villa. An already crucial first final for PSG, who may not have had their full squad available for long.
And that will only be the beginning. On August 16, Paris will compete in the Trophée des Champions against Lens, before kicking off their Ligue 1 season at home against Rennes on August 22. One week later, PSG will travel to Lille for the second matchday of the league.
In short, PSG will start their season at full speed, with two finals, two major warm-up matches, and an immediate demanding return to Ligue 1. Luis Enrique will have to quickly get everyone up to pace.
