Paris Saint-Germain is making progress on its new stadium project. With no agreement reached for the purchase of the Parc des Princes, the club is actively exploring alternative locations in the Paris region.
PSG’s General Director, Victoriano Melero, confirmed to Le Figaro that economic, technical, and legal studies are underway on a preferred site, with a decision expected in the coming weeks. However, most supporters remain strongly opposed to leaving the Parc.
“Since the Parc is no longer for sale, we are looking around Paris,” Melero stated. “In the coming weeks, we will focus on all economic, technical, legal, administrative, and financial studies on a preferred site. If this option proves viable, it could host our future stadium.”
Would a stadium 10, 20, or even 30 kilometers from Paris be a realistic option? “The preliminary studies we’ve conducted suggest that it is,” Melero explained. “We are on the verge of a mobility revolution with the Grand Paris project, which offers great opportunities, including designing a future stadium tailored to the fans of tomorrow.”
Building a stadium in France is already a complex process. “The president has set a goal, but we need to move forward quickly and rigorously. That means making choices and narrowing down our options. If we truly want to commit, we cannot run four projects at the same time. A clear direction must be taken,” Melero added.
