Four years later, Borussia Dortmund got their revenge on PSG, subtly mocking the Parisian club following their elimination from the Champions League. This harked back to the famous match at Parc des Princes, the last one before the Covid crisis.
It was a nightmare evening for Paris Saint-Germain, knocked out of the competition on the verge of the final. Borussia Dortmund, victorious 1-0, celebrated their qualification by reminiscing about the clash between the two teams in 2020.
Indeed, just before the lockdown, PSG had eliminated Borussia Dortmund, including Erling Haaland, in the Champions League round of sixteen.
Borussia Dortmund’s reaction on social media added a bit of spice to PSG’s elimination for Parisian supporters. Referencing PSG’s celebration from 2020, one of BVB’s accounts tweeted: “Tastes like fine wine,” accompanied by the photo from 2020.
