PSG can already draw a line under Mateus Fernandes. Once linked with the Parisian club, the West Ham midfielder is now expected to stay in the Premier League and join Tottenham.

Mateus Fernandes will not be joining PSG. Tottenham have won the battle. According to David Ornstein, Spurs have reached an agreement to sign the 21-year-old. The London club reportedly submitted the highest offer, worth around £85 million guaranteed, an enormous fee of more than €90 million.

Tottenham Win the Race for Mateus Fernandes

Mateus Fernandes is said to have chosen Tottenham despite interest from other clubs. Manchester United were also in the race, but the Red Devils were reportedly not prepared to go that high financially.

For PSG, this is therefore a transfer lead that has gone cold. Paris had made enquiries about the young Portuguese midfielder, but Tottenham have clearly moved faster and stronger to convince both West Ham and the player.

Barring a huge turnaround, Mateus Fernandes will continue his career with Spurs. It is a major coup for Tottenham, and one fewer name on PSG’s list as they look to strengthen their midfield.
