Brest held on… for a while. Facing Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday for Matchday 9 of Ligue 1, the Breton club eventually fell 3–0 at home. A logical defeat against a clinical PSG, which Joris Chotard and Eric Roy analyzed with clear-headedness on beIN SPORTS.
“We all know who we’re up against. They’re the best team in the world right now,” admitted Chotard, impressed but not discouraged. “Overall, we were solid. But they have precision — they do everything right. The first two goals came from small mistakes.” The Brest midfielder also defended his teammate after the missed penalty: “It can happen to anyone.”
“They’re the best team in the world.”
For his part, coach Eric Roy praised the commitment of his players despite the scoreline. “It’s a great team we were up against. We tried to stay organized, but we didn’t have the weapons. We played the match we wanted, even if we made a few little errors. That penalty could have changed things,” he explained.
Fully aware of PSG’s superiority, Roy still found the scoreline harsh: “3–0 is a bit heavy, even if it’s deserved. This PSG side is walking on water.”
Next up for Brest: a crucial chance to bounce back against Le Havre — a more manageable opponent on paper, but one that’s already vital for the rest of their season.
