Noham Kamara, an 18-year-old defender trained at PSG, has joined the injury list while he was with the French U19 national team. He suffered a thigh injury during the gathering and had to withdraw from the three qualifying matches for the U19 Euro (Faroe Islands, Bulgaria, and Hungary).
According to L’Équipe, Kamara will be rested for two weeks. It is a minor injury but it temporarily hinders his progress, as he hoped to shine with the Bleuets. PSG is now awaiting an official medical update to confirm the exact duration of his unavailability.
But the real shock concerns Wassim Slama, 17. The young attacking midfielder was playing in the U17 World Cup with Tunisia when his left knee twisted dramatically against Belgium. He was carried off on a stretcher, fearing the worst… and the verdict has come: a torn cruciate ligament.
The key players… and the young ones too
This is a huge blow for one of the biggest hopes from the Paris training center. Slama was progressing through the ranks: training with the pros, first official call-ups, a very successful start to the World Cup… until this tragedy that is likely to end his season. PSG is losing a talent that was on the rise.
For Luis Enrique, already without Dembélé, Doué, Hakimi, and Mendes, this is a heavy setback. The coach was counting on Slama to gradually integrate into the first team in the coming months.
PSG now sees two of its young prospects abruptly halted, just as their trajectories were beginning to brighten.
