PSG vs Paris FC: A Very Particular Referee Appointed for the Derby!

The LFP has appointed Guillaume Paradis to referee the final Ligue 1 match between Paris FC and PSG on Sunday night at Jean-Bouin. And the decision is already raising plenty of questions.

At just 32 years old, the French referee still has very limited experience at the highest level, with only 14 Ligue 1 matches officiated so far. It will be an important test for him, even if the match itself carries almost no impact in the standings.

An Unusual Referee Profile for the Paris Derby

He will be assisted by Nicolas Durand and Ludovic Reyes on the sidelines, while Yohan Rouinsard and Ludovic Rémy will be in charge of VAR duties.

Guillaume Paradis is also known for handing out yellow cards far more easily than the average Ligue 1 referee. With an average of four yellow cards per game, he sits well above the league standards, a trend that could quickly cool tensions during this Paris derby. On the other hand, he is far less severe when it comes to red cards, having shown only one direct red card in Ligue 1 and never sending off a player after a second booking.

Another surprising statistic is his very low number of penalties awarded. With just 0.08 penalties per match, he is far below the usual Ligue 1 average. In short, a rather atypical referee profile for PSG’s final match before the Champions League final against Arsenal.
