PSG vs Paris FC: A Very Special Referee for the Derby!

The LFP has appointed Guillaume Paradis to referee the final Ligue 1 match between Paris FC and PSG on Sunday evening at Jean-Bouin. And the decision is already raising plenty of questions.

At just 32 years old, the French referee still has very limited experience at the highest level, with only 14 Ligue 1 matches officiated so far. It will be an important assignment for him, even if the match itself carries very little importance in the standings.

An Unusual Referee Profile Before Arsenal

He will be assisted by Nicolas Durand and Ludovic Reyes on the sidelines, while Yohan Rouinsard and Ludovic Rémy will oversee VAR duties.

Guillaume Paradis’ statistics are quite surprising. The referee hands out yellow cards far more easily than the average Ligue 1 official. With an average of 4 yellow cards per game, he sits well above the league standards. A trend that could quickly cool tensions in this Paris derby.

On the other hand, Paradis is far less severe when it comes to dismissals. He has shown only one straight red card in Ligue 1 and has never sent off a player for a second booking. Another surprising statistic: he awards very few penalties. With only 0.08 penalties per match, he is far below the usual Ligue 1 average. In short, a very atypical referee profile for PSG’s final game before the Champions League final against Arsenal.
