PSG supporters will likely have to wait a little longer before seeing their European champions in the France national team jersey. According to RMC Sport, no Paris Saint-Germain player is expected to start France’s friendly match against Ivory Coast on Thursday evening in Nantes.
The PSG contingent is being given time to recover before the start of the World Cup. The Paris players have been heavily involved in recent weeks and only arrived at Clairefontaine on Tuesday after their club commitments.
Deschamps Resting PSG Champions
The decision comes as no surprise. Didier Deschamps had already indicated that special management would be put in place for PSG players, who won the Champions League last Saturday after a long season and an intense final against Arsenal. As a result, the Paris stars are not expected to play a major role in this match.
Kylian Mbappé, however, is expected to lead the French attack. The captain should be joined by Michael Olise, Rayan Cherki, and Marcus Thuram in the offensive line. On the PSG side, Lucas Hernandez, Warren Zaïre-Emery, Désiré Doué, Bradley Barcola, and Ousmane Dembélé are all likely to start on the bench and could receive minutes during the match—or possibly be rested entirely.
The probable France lineup is: Maignan; Koundé, Konaté, Upamecano, Theo Hernandez; Tchouaméni, Rabiot; Olise, Cherki, Thuram; Mbappé. With less than two weeks remaining before the 2026 World Cup, the cautious approach appears logical, especially as PSG players are expected to play a much bigger role in Deschamps’ plans once the tournament begins.
