Paris Saint-Germain still dreams of signing Julián Álvarez, but the deal appears to be close to impossible. While the Argentine striker is highly appreciated by Luis Enrique and Luis Campos as a potential replacement for Gonçalo Ramos, several major obstacles stand in PSG’s way.
According to Éric Rabesandratana, who recently spoke with Javier Pastore, the main issue is not sporting. The World Cup winner’s family reportedly wants to remain in Spain, which explains why the player would favor a move to a club such as Barcelona.
Atlético Madrid Refuses to Sell
Even for Barcelona, however, the operation looks extremely difficult. According to AS, Atlético Madrid has no intention of selling its striker and is directing all interested clubs to his release clause, set at a staggering €500 million.
Barcelona, PSG, and Arsenal have all expressed interest in recent months. Arsenal are even said to be willing to open talks with Atlético, but the Madrid club’s position remains unchanged: Julián Álvarez is a key part of the project and is not for sale.
With Atlético standing firm and the Álvarez camp reluctant to consider a move to France, PSG could soon focus on alternative attacking targets. One name reportedly being closely monitored by the European champions is Eli Junior Kroupi.
