PSG vs Aston Villa: A Line-up Featuring Numerous Backups?

PSG could be severely depleted when they face Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup on August 12. The squad’s return to training has been postponed until July 27, while the World Cup players will return at different times depending on when their national teams were eliminated.

PSG will resume training without most of their internationals. The return is scheduled for next Monday, two days later than initially planned. Many players are expected to be absent because those who participated in the World Cup are either still on holiday or have only just begun their break. With at least three weeks of rest required, some may not return until mid-August.

PSG Could Be Without Several Key Players

That would be too late for both the UEFA Super Cup and the Trophée des Champions, scheduled for August 12 and 16 respectively. Willian Pacho and Ibrahim Mbaye are expected back in early August. Vitinha, João Neves and Marquinhos could still be ready, whereas Achraf Hakimi appears to be facing a tighter schedule.

The French internationals and Fabian Ruiz are expected to return even later. Ousmane Dembélé, Bradley Barcola, Désiré Doué, Warren Zaïre-Emery, Lucas Hernandez, Lucas Digne and Ruiz could therefore miss the match. The injured Nuno Mendes also remains highly doubtful. PSG may consequently start with several squad players and only a handful of regulars from last season.

A possible PSG line-up against Aston Villa could be: Safonov – Mayulu, Zabarnyi, Pacho, Beraldo – Vitinha, Neves, Dro – Kvaratskhelia, Ndjantou, Mbaye.
