Just as numerous rumors suggested that Julián Álvarez was more interested in joining Barcelona, a new twist has completely revived Paris Saint-Germain’s hopes of signing the Argentine striker.
The Julián Álvarez case continues to surprise. Earlier this week, Spanish media reported that the player’s family was not interested in a move to Paris. However, that does not necessarily mean the deal is dead.
Atlético Madrid Opens the Door to PSG
According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Atlético Madrid would be far more willing to negotiate a transfer with PSG than to sell the player to Barcelona. In fact, the Madrid club has reportedly shut the door on any discussions with the Catalan giants.
One of the biggest obstacles remains the asking price. Atlético are said to value their Argentine forward at around €150 million. PSG considers that figure excessive and hopes to lower the cost through negotiations, potentially by including a player as part of the deal.
While several reports recently claimed that Álvarez favored Barcelona, Sport suggests the reality behind the scenes is very different. The outlet claims that if the striker decides to leave Atlético, PSG would be his preferred destination. Under contract until 2030, Álvarez remains one of PSG’s dream targets to strengthen the attack, and for the first time in weeks, the signs appear to be pointing more toward Paris than Barcelona, setting up one of the most explosive transfer sagas of the summer.
