Will PSG Open an “Undesirables Loft” This Summer?

Will PSG set up a loft this summer? It seems unlikely. Here is the current trend.

Are “lofts” going out of fashion in Ligue 1 clubs? In Marseille, Bruno Genesio has decided to restart on a clear basis: all players are called up for the return to training, except those involved in the World Cup. Even players likely to leave will not be sidelined, according to L’Équipe. It is a strong choice from OM, contrasting with certain methods seen in recent years at several clubs, where separate groups were sometimes created to push some players toward the exit.

PSG Not Expected To Create A Separate Group

At PSG, the trend also does not appear to be moving toward the creation of a “loft.” Luis Enrique is not expected, at this stage, to set up a separate group for players whose futures remain uncertain.

However, several cases could still shape Paris Saint-Germain’s transfer window. Lucas Chevalier, Bradley Barcola and Lucas Hernandez are among the names around whom there could be movement in the coming weeks.

But for now, Paris seems keen to maintain a collective framework, without any brutal sidelining, as was notably the case with Kylian Mbappé. It is a way to keep everyone involved while allowing the transfer market to take its course, and also to avoid angering the UNFP, the players’ union, which denounces this practice every year. The message is fairly clear: at PSG, no loft has been announced for the moment. Any possible departures will be handled on the market, not necessarily through an internal separation as soon as training resumes.
