Presnel Kimpembe is set to continue his career in Qatar, but not in the country’s top flight. A free agent since leaving Qatar SC, the French defender is expected to sign for Al-Kharitiyath, a club competing in the Qatari second division.
According to L’Équipe, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner has decided to remain in Qatar in an attempt to revive a career that has been severely disrupted by injuries. It is an unexpected move for the former Paris Saint-Germain defensive leader.
Kimpembe Looks to Revive His Career in Qatar
Kimpembe joined Qatar SC in 2025 after leaving PSG in a deal worth around €5 million. However, he never managed to establish himself, making just 11 appearances and totaling only 695 minutes on the pitch. His spell ended quickly, and he is now expected to join Al-Kharitiyath, where former PSG academy graduate Kaïs Najeh already plays.

The turning point in Kimpembe’s career came in February 2023 when he suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon. Since then, the French international has struggled to regain his previous level and eventually fell out of Luis Enrique’s plans at PSG. This move to the second division represents a fresh opportunity to regain playing time, rebuild his fitness, and restore his competitive level. At just 30 years old, the World Cup winner still hopes to revive his career, but this transfer also highlights how dramatically injuries have altered the path of the former PSG academy product.
