Ibrahim Mbaye’s transfer situation has taken a new turn. While Liverpool have been monitoring the Paris Saint-Germain forward for several weeks, Bayern Munich are now also reportedly keeping a close eye on the 18-year-old. According to journalist Nicolò Schira, the Bavarian club have requested information about the Senegal international.
After Liverpool, Bayern Munich have now entered the picture, with Europe’s biggest clubs clearly seeing huge potential in Mbaye. Under contract with his boyhood club until June 2028, the PSG youngster is mainly looking for more playing time. That has been a major issue throughout the summer, with competition becoming increasingly fierce in Paris’ attacking department.
Mbaye is looking for more playing time
The situation has been developing since early August, when several European clubs began showing interest. Liverpool were among the most serious contenders, alongside Borussia Dortmund. PSG reportedly set a high asking price for their young forward, around €50 million according to Le Parisien. L’Équipe also reported that Mbaye felt it would be difficult to secure the role he wanted this season under Luis Enrique, while PSG had indicated that his playing time was unlikely to increase significantly. A loan move was also considered.

Liverpool quickly stepped up their interest and began exploring the conditions of a possible transfer, with Mbaye said to be open to a move to the Premier League. However, no concrete offer has yet allowed the Reds to reach an agreement with PSG. The player’s sporting situation has meanwhile become clearer: after taking part in pre-season, Mbaye remained on the bench against Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup before being left out of the squad for the Trophée des Champions defeat to Lens and again for the Ligue 1 opener against Rennes.
His absence from matchday squads comes as PSG look to avoid any unnecessary risk while negotiations over his future continue. Le Parisien reported that Mbaye was expected to keep training normally but could remain out of competitive squads until the transfer window closes if talks continue. Bayern Munich’s interest now adds another major contender to a transfer saga that could accelerate in the final days of the summer window.
