Ligue 1 – Le Havre ready to go to court to play PSG as planned
PSG fielded a B team against Clermont on Saturday in Ligue 1. Le Havre’s president was not pleased.
Le Havre president, Jean-Michel Roussier, did not appreciate Luis Enrique fielding a B team against Clermont, the bottom team in the league. Le Havre is currently fighting against relegation. “It’s an absolute lack of respect for the French championship, there’s nothing more to add,” said the Le Havre president to RMC Sport.
After these remarks, and the controversy, the Le Havre president explained a few hours later on the RMC Sport program, Bartoli Times. The LFP is considering postponing the PSG / Le Havre match (scheduled for Saturday, April 27 at 9 p.m.) to a later date if PSG were to qualify for the Champions League semi-finals.
“The PSG lineup on Saturday, for me, was the cherry on top of a week that made my anger rise. The week started when the League informed me that in the event PSG – which I sincerely wish them – passed the Barcelona stage and played a semi-final, the match against Le Havre (Matchday 31) might be postponed between Matchday 33 and Matchday 34. That’s how my anger started. I told the League ‘you’re dreaming, do you think that in the situation we’re in, I’ll accept to travel to Nice then to the Parc before hosting Marseille! You’re crazy!’ Moreover, we’re between the penultimate and the last matchday, the rules state that these two matchdays are protected. So I say no immediately, it’s out of the question.”
“I want to play at the Parc on April 27th”
The Le Havre president even explains that he would be willing to go to court “If the board of directors decides, it leaves only the choice to go to court right away. There will be all the appeals and believe me, I will exhaust all the appeals. If there needs to be a team of under-17s like back then, there will be a U17 team.”
“I have a lot of respect for PSG, great respect for Luis Enrique, and believe me, it’s sincere. But I can’t accept that PSG alone decides the outcome of the championship for the poorly ranked teams. Paris is going to be a very beautiful champion, let it play the role of champion to the end. And that goes for us since we’re going to play at the Parc. I want to play at the Parc on April 27, not between Matchday 33 and Matchday 34.”
