PSG Set for Aston Villa Clash on August 12, No Time to Rest

Just hours after securing a second consecutive UEFA Champions League title against Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain already knows its first major challenge of the 2026-27 season. Luis Enrique’s side will face Aston Villa on August 12 in Salzburg in the UEFA Super Cup.

Another huge test is already on the horizon for PSG. No sooner had they celebrated their Champions League triumph than attention turned to the new campaign. Last year, the Parisians won the same competition against Tottenham after a dramatic comeback before prevailing in a penalty shootout.

The match will also mark a reunion between Paris and former coach Unai Emery. The Spanish manager saw his Aston Villa side eliminated by PSG in the quarter-finals of the most recent Champions League after a highly competitive two-legged tie.

Ligue 1 is set to resume in late August, but before that, PSG will play a friendly against Manchester United in Gothenburg on August 8. The club will then contest the Trophée des Champions against RC Lens before beginning its domestic campaign on the weekend of August 22 and 23.

A busy start to the season awaits the European champions, with very little vacation time for many players, most of whom are also expected to take part in the World Cup.
