PSG now know the referee for Sunday night’s clash against Brest at the Parc des Princes, as part of Ligue 1’s 33rd matchday. Jérôme Brisard has been appointed to officiate this important game for the Parisians.
PSG will once again deal with a referee known for handing out red cards quite easily. The 40-year-old official already has strong top-flight experience with 175 Ligue 1 matches under his belt. He will be assisted by Alexis Auger and Steven Torregrossa, while Geoffrey Kubler will serve as the fourth official. VAR duties will be handled by Pierre Gaillouste and Wilfried Bien.
A Referee Known for Tough Decisions
When it comes to disciplinary statistics, Jérôme Brisard gives almost the same number of yellow cards as the Ligue 1 average, with 3.54 bookings per match.
However, the French referee is far stricter regarding straight red cards. With an average of 0.23 red cards per game, he sends players off more often than the league average and rarely ignores dangerous tackles or excessive behavior.
Another interesting detail is that Brisard rarely dismisses players after a second yellow card. His statistics suggest he prefers showing a direct red whenever he believes a foul is serious enough. Penalties could also play a major role on Sunday night, as Brisard awards an average of 0.37 penalties per match, slightly above the Ligue 1 average.
