The rules set by the CNOSF (French Olympics Comitee) for the flag bearer of France are known… and they exclude Kylian Mbappé.

No Teddy Riner: the judoka, who was the flag bearer for the French delegation at the 2016 Rio Olympics, won’t be the one to have this honor during the Paris Olympics according to Le Parisien. The main criteria established by the CNOSF for the designation of the flag bearer eliminate quite a few stars from the delegation.

Antoine Dupont and Kylian Mbappé, who have never participated in the Olympic Games, will also not have this honor according to the stated criteria. Nikola Karabatic and his brother Luka, who were convicted in a betting case in 2012, will also not be eligible as having a criminal record is a disqualification. This will also be the case for Renaud Lavillenie, due to a (suspended) sentence after a motorcycle accident in 2007.

Florent Manaudou, the swimmer, seems to meet all the criteria: he has already participated in the Olympics, has no criminal record, and has never been a flag bearer.
