Ruben Amorim’s arrival on the AC Milan bench could have repercussions all the way to Paris Saint-Germain. Officially appointed as the Rossoneri’s new head coach, the Portuguese manager is already shaping his future squad, and one name keeps emerging: Gonçalo Ramos.
Amorim has arrived at AC Milan full of ambition, and a surprise transfer could be in the works. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the new Milan boss is a big admirer of the PSG striker, whom he frequently faced during the intense derby clashes between Sporting CP and Benfica. In search of a true number nine to lead his project, Amorim reportedly sees Ramos as the ideal figure to spearhead Milan’s attack.
Milan Exploring a Move for Gonçalo Ramos
The circumstances could favor such a deal. Despite winning numerous trophies during his two seasons in Paris, the Portuguese international has rarely been an undisputed starter under Luis Enrique. Often used as a high-impact substitute, Ramos could be tempted by a fresh challenge that offers greater responsibility and a leading role.
The main obstacle is financial. Signed by PSG in 2023 for €65 million plus €15 million in bonuses, Ramos is still valued at around €40 million by the French club. That remains a significant fee for a Milan side that will not be competing in the Champions League next season.
As a result, Milan’s executives are reportedly considering a creative formula involving a loan deal with either an option or an obligation to buy at a later date. The influence of agent Jorge Mendes could also play a key role in negotiations. Ramos is not the only player being monitored by Amorim, with Manuel Ugarte, Francisco Trincão, Antonio Silva, and Morten Hjulmand also said to be on Milan’s shortlist as the club prepares for a potentially major Portuguese-inspired transfer window at San Siro.
