After three seasons with Paris Saint-Germain, Kang-in Lee is set to make his return to Spain. The 25-year-old South Korean international is at the center of a major transfer that will allow the French champions to secure a significant profit, three years after signing him for €22 million.
Kang-in Lee is on the verge of joining Atletico Madrid. At Diego Simeone’s request, the Spanish club identified the versatile attacking midfielder as one of its top summer priorities, valuing his creativity, technical quality and ability to operate in multiple offensive roles.

The transfer has entered its final stages with a deal worth €35 million guaranteed, plus €5 million in performance-related bonuses, taking the total package close to €40 million. The player has already agreed personal terms on a five-year contract that will keep him at Atletico until June 30, 2031. According to Mundo Deportivo, Kang-in Lee has also successfully completed his medical examinations in South Korea under the supervision of Atletico Madrid’s medical staff, paving the way for an official announcement.
Although Luis Enrique mainly used him as a reliable squad player due to fierce competition, Kang-in Lee leaves PSG with the reputation of being an exemplary professional and a technically gifted playmaker. During the 2025-26 Ligue 1 season, he made 27 league appearances and scored three goals. His departure is part of PSG’s plan to streamline their attacking options after the 2026 FIFA World Cup, while allowing the South Korean international to return to La Liga, where he previously impressed with Mallorca and Valencia.
