Lucas Digne’s return to Paris Saint-Germain was reportedly completed with the utmost discretion. While the left-back was negotiating with the French champions, he is said to have avoided discussing the move with any of his France teammates during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He reportedly kept the transfer completely under wraps until the story emerged in the media. According to L’Équipe, Ousmane Dembélé, Bradley Barcola, Warren Zaïre-Emery, Désiré Doué and Lucas Hernandez only learned about Digne’s imminent move to PSG on Monday, at the same time as the general public. The revelation quickly sparked jokes and playful teasing within the French squad.
PSG Wrapped Up the Deal in Complete Secrecy
According to PSGINSIDE-ACTUS, the first discussions between Lucas Digne and PSG began shortly before the defender left for the World Cup. Negotiations then accelerated dramatically, with all parties reportedly reaching a full agreement in less than 48 hours.
PSG, the player and his representatives are said to have deliberately kept the deal confidential to avoid distracting Digne during France’s World Cup campaign. Even the Paris players sharing the dressing room with him were reportedly left unaware. Digne is expected to return to the French capital as Nuno Mendes’ backup, bringing valuable experience and consistency to Luis Enrique’s squad, while allowing Lucas Hernandez to spend more time in his preferred central defensive role. PSG is now expected to activate the player’s release clause to officially complete the transfer.
