PSG Changes Its Mind on Suzuki, Juventus Furious

The Zion Suzuki situation is causing major tensions between Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus. While the Japanese goalkeeper’s loan move to Turin appeared almost complete following his transfer from Parma, the Italian club has reportedly decided to withdraw from negotiations.

Tensions have risen sharply over the Suzuki deal. PSG reportedly tried to buy some time in recent hours, with Zion Suzuki’s medical, initially scheduled earlier, pushed back to Sunday.

Luis Enrique wanted to assess Suzuki first

The main stumbling block, however, is believed to have come from Luis Enrique. According to La Stampa and La Gazzetta dello Sport, the PSG coach wanted the opportunity to assess Suzuki in training before giving final approval for his loan to Juventus. That request completely changed the situation, leaving the Turin club without any guarantee that the 23-year-old goalkeeper would actually arrive.

The uncertainty was reportedly very badly received by Juventus. With only a few days remaining before the start of Serie A, the Bianconeri decided to end negotiations rather than wait any longer. The Italian press has even described a feeling of betrayal within the club, as Juventus believed an agreement had already been reached and must now restart its search for a new first-choice goalkeeper.

PSG could therefore end up keeping Zion Suzuki, at least for the time being. Such a decision could also reshuffle the goalkeeping hierarchy in Paris and directly affect Lucas Chevalier’s future.
