Paris Saint-Germain have secured their new goalkeeper. After several days of negotiations, the French champions and Parma have reached an agreement for the transfer of Zion Suzuki. The 23-year-old Japan international is expected to cost PSG around €35 million, including bonuses.
After an impressive World Cup with Japan and having already established himself in Serie A, Suzuki had attracted interest from several European clubs. PSG ultimately moved ahead of the competition to sign a goalkeeper regarded as one of the most promising players of his generation in the position.
However, Zion Suzuki is not expected to play for PSG this season. According to L’Équipe, Paris and Juventus have also reached an agreement for the Japanese goalkeeper to join the Turin club on loan. The plan had been under consideration by the PSG hierarchy for several days, with the aim of allowing Suzuki to keep playing regularly and continue his development at the highest level rather than immediately entering an already competitive goalkeeping battle in Paris.

Juventus, who had also considered signing the Parma goalkeeper permanently, are therefore expected to welcome him on loan instead. For PSG, the deal provides a way to secure their long-term future in goal without immediately disrupting the current hierarchy. Matvey Safonov and Lucas Chevalier should continue competing for the number one spot this season, while Suzuki can gain further Serie A experience before potentially joining PSG once his loan spell ends.
