The Two Players Targeted by PSG to Replace Gonçalo Ramos

Paris Saint-Germain are accelerating their attacking transfer plans, but the project is not yet completely clear. While several options exist out wide, the main issue remains the number 9 position.

PSG do want a centre-forward to replace Gonçalo Ramos. According to Foot Mercato’s Santi Aouna, PSG are notably working on Yan Diomandé to compensate for a likely departure of Bradley Barcola, not to replace Gonçalo Ramos through the middle. That is an important clarification, because Paris are still looking for a true centre-forward.

PSG Still Searching for a True Number 9

With Gonçalo Ramos likely to leave for AC Milan, the capital club must find a striker capable of making an impact up front. Luis Enrique wants a player who can occupy defenders, press, attack space and finish moves.

Two names are coming up insistently in this case: Eli Junior Kroupi and Julián Álvarez. They are two very different profiles, perfectly summing up PSG’s dilemma between long-term potential and immediate impact.

Eli Junior Kroupi appears to be an option in line with PSG’s current approach. Young, French and already performing in the Premier League with Bournemouth, he has a modern and versatile profile. He can play as a striker, but also take part in the build-up and move around the central areas.

Julián Álvarez represents another route. More experienced and already used to major occasions with Argentina, Manchester City and Atlético Madrid, he would offer more immediate guarantees. His profile as a mobile, intense and intelligent number 9 seems compatible with Luis Enrique’s demands. But both deals look difficult, with high prices, competition and the players’ intentions all likely to play a major role.
