Paris Saint-Germain are closing in on a major defensive signing. According to L’Équipe and multiple sources, Illya Zabarnyi is set to join the French champions, with a deal nearly finalized with Bournemouth.
Talks had stalled before the Club World Cup but resumed recently with real progress. Bournemouth initially asked for €70 million, but a transfer is now expected to go through for around €60 million excluding bonuses. PSG had already submitted a €55 million bid.
The 22-year-old Ukrainian defender had a strong season in the Premier League (36 appearances) and is reportedly eager to make the move. If the deal is sealed quickly, Zabarnyi could even be available for PSG’s Club World Cup knockout rounds — a timely reinforcement for Luis Enrique’s squad.
