Amid an ongoing dispute with Paris Saint-Germain over several million euros in allegedly unpaid wages and bonuses, Kylian Mbappé has made some unexpected comments about Nasser Al-Khelaïfi.

After leaving for Real Madrid on a free transfer in the summer of 2024 following seven seasons in Paris, the French forward continues to challenge his former club through the appropriate legal channels. However, despite the ongoing battle, the France captain refuses to forget what the PSG president has done for him. Speaking to Le Parisien through conversations with close friends and several France teammates, Mbappé paid tribute to the club’s chairman. “Nasser has done a lot for my family and for me,” he said.

The Real Madrid star even suggested that his career would not have followed the same path without PSG and Al-Khelaïfi. “If today I am at Real Madrid and captain of the French national team, Paris Saint-Germain and Nasser Al-Khelaïfi played a central role,” explained the former PSG player.

Mbappé also highlighted the influence of sporting advisor Luis Campos and his assistant Olivier Gagne, whom he described as trusted figures both professionally and personally. Reflecting on his departure, he acknowledged the difficulty of leaving PSG and admitted he expected tensions to arise. “Everyone only remembers the ending, which is understandable because leaving PSG is almost impossible. I knew that by leaving, I would end up in this situation,” he said.

He then addressed the financial dispute directly: “When I have a conflict with someone and I believe I deserve to win, I have no problem seeing it through to the end. But we must not confuse everything: Nasser is someone I respect. PSG is the club where I spent the longest period of my career (2017-2024), and I cannot pretend it never existed. That is not possible, and it is not who I am.” These remarks are unlikely to go unnoticed given the strained relationship between the two sides. Despite the ongoing conflict, Mbappé appears determined to separate his legal disagreements from the gratitude he still feels toward the man who brought him to Paris in a €180 million transfer in 2017.
