Olympique de Marseille wanted to make a big splash with its new away shirt. Mission accomplished, but not necessarily for the right reasons. In several visuals published by the club and Puma, the model presenting the Marseille kit showed an impossible-to-miss tattoo: “Paris”.
In Marseille, some details are unforgivable. And this one had everything needed to set social media on fire. With the rivalry against PSG still one of the pillars of Marseille’s identity, seeing the name of the capital appear in an official OM campaign immediately triggered jokes, screenshots and ironic comments.
Puma Removes Paris, But Too Late
The away shirt, dark blue with sky-blue shades, was supposed to highlight the elegance and identity of the club from the south of France. But in the end, many remembered only one thing: that very visible “Paris” tattoo on the model’s arm. A tiny detail for some, a huge lapse in taste for OM supporters.
As the backlash began to grow, Puma quickly tried to correct the mistake. The kit supplier edited the photos to remove the embarrassing inscription. But on the internet, nothing ever truly disappears, especially when it comes to mocking OM.

The blunder had already spread widely, particularly among PSG fans, delighted to see the word “Paris” make its way into the launch of a Marseille shirt. Even on OM’s official website, some unedited images still seemed to be visible after the first reactions. For a club so attached to its identity and its opposition to PSG, the mistake could hardly have come at a worse time. OM wanted to present its new away shirt. Instead, it unintentionally delivered a full-scale banter moment.
