PSG are preparing changes in their goalkeeper hierarchy. According to Fabrizio Romano, young Italian goalkeeper Alessandro Longoni, born in 2008, is set to sign with the Parisian club. He is expected to take on the role of number three next season.
One goalkeeper arrives, another leaves: PSG are reorganizing their goalkeeping department. This surprise arrival of Italian shot-stopper Alessandro Longoni comes alongside Renato Marin’s loan departure. The 19-year-old Italian goalkeeper will join Nacional in Portugal for one season, according to Bruno Andrade of Maisfutebol. The goal is clear: to allow him to play regularly and continue his development.
PSG Reshape Their Goalkeeper Hierarchy
Renato Marin arrived with a strong reputation and is considered a goalkeeper with major potential at PSG. But with the competition in Paris, he would have had little chance of getting playing time. The club has therefore chosen a logical solution: a loan move to a competitive league.
PSG want to see Marin string together matches, gain maturity and face the pressure of top-level football. In his position, experience is essential, and Paris hope to see him return stronger after this season in Portugal. With this move, the Parisian hierarchy appears to be taking shape: Matvey Safonov should start as number one, Lucas Chevalier as number two, and Alessandro Longoni as number three.
Paris are not really parting ways with Marin: they are mainly giving him a real chance to grow. It is a smart loan, while Longoni arrives to complete the goalkeeping group. After that, PSG will simply have to sort through their goalkeepers, because next summer they could be four players competing for three places.
