France are entering the serious part of the competition. This Tuesday, Les Bleus face Sweden in the round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup at MetLife Stadium at 11 p.m. It is their first knockout match, and it directly involves several PSG players.
Didier Deschamps is back. Absent against Norway, the France coach will be on the bench for this World Cup round of 32 clash. As a reminder, five Parisians are in the French squad: Lucas Hernandez and Warren Zaïre-Emery have not played a single minute. Meanwhile, there has been plenty of rotation between Désiré Doué, Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembélé. They are not all expected to start the match.
Barcola and Dembélé Expected to Start
According to L’Équipe, Didier Deschamps could start Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembélé in attack, alongside Kylian Mbappé and Michael Olise. Désiré Doué, however, is expected to begin on the bench.
The probable lineup announced by the daily newspaper is: Maignan in goal, a back four of Koundé, Upamecano, Saliba and Digne, a midfield duo of Tchouaméni and Rabiot, then an attacking line made up of Dembélé, Olise and Barcola behind Mbappé.
For Doué, that would mean a role as an impact substitute. The PSG player could come on during the match if Les Bleus need directness, creativity or fresh legs. But at kick-off, Deschamps seems set to rely on the experience and speed of Barcola and Dembélé. France’s probable lineup: Maignan, Digne, Saliba, Upamecano, Koundé, Rabiot, Tchouaméni, Barcola, Olise, Dembélé, Mbappé.
