Rodri Rejects PSG for Real Madrid as Transfer Rumors Fade

Rodri’s supposed move to Paris Saint-Germain has quickly turned into a non-story. After being linked with the French champions for just a few days, the Manchester City midfielder is now expected to stay away from Paris this summer, bringing an abrupt end to the speculation.

The rumors surrounding Rodri and PSG generated plenty of discussion, particularly as Real Madrid and Paris were also battling over highly rated prospect Yan Diomandé. However, according to Le Parisien, PSG never seriously considered signing the Spanish international. Club officials believe their midfield is already well covered with Vitinha, João Neves, Fabian Ruiz, Warren Zaïre-Emery, Senny Mayulu and Dro Fernandez.

Rodri Focused on Manchester City or Real Madrid

The Rodri speculation may even have been used as a smokescreen while Real Madrid gained the upper hand in the race for Diomandé. It allowed PSG to divert attention at a time when one of their priority attacking targets appeared to be slipping away.

Reports from Spain paint an even clearer picture. According to AS, Rodri reportedly dismissed PSG’s approach without even wanting to hear the details of a potential offer. The midfielder is said to have only two destinations in mind: remaining at Manchester City or making a future move to Real Madrid. With his contract running until June 2027, a decision on his long-term future will eventually be required, but as far as PSG is concerned, this transfer never truly existed.
