Paris Saint-Germain have not yet managed to convince AS Monaco. The capital club recently submitted a new €45 million offer for Maghnes Akliouche, but the proposal was immediately rejected by the Monaco hierarchy, who are still hoping to receive more for their highly rated talent.
Since the start of the transfer window, PSG have made Akliouche their priority to strengthen the attacking department. Luis Enrique is a huge admirer of the France Under-21 international, who can operate in several positions, while Luis Campos has been working on the deal for several weeks. The player, meanwhile, has reportedly already chosen the European champions despite interest from several foreign clubs.
A Transfer Saga That Has Lasted for Weeks
This latest rejection is another step in a deal that has progressed gradually. Paris first submitted an opening bid that was quickly turned down by Monaco. PSG then returned several times, progressively increasing their offer in an attempt to meet the Principality club’s demands. The latest proposal, worth an estimated €45 million, was still not enough, but negotiations remain open and talks between the two clubs are expected to continue.
Several sources recently claimed that PSG and Akliouche’s representatives had already almost finalised an agreement. The transfer fee therefore remains the main obstacle. Monaco are continuing to stand firm, but the gap between the two clubs now appears to be relatively small.
At this stage, PSG are expected to return quickly with another offer. Only a few million euros may now be needed to convince Monaco to sell a player regarded as one of the biggest priorities of the Parisian transfer window.
