Kylian Mbappé left PSG more than two years ago, but his history with Paris continues to make headlines. Between his financial dispute with his former club, the recent dismissal of the moral harassment investigation and the Ballon d’Or controversy involving Ousmane Dembélé, the Real Madrid striker has been going through a particularly turbulent period in the media. And his latest video has raised eyebrows: smiling broadly, Mbappé appears with a song repeating, “Who’s the really bad guy? The bad guy.”

Even far from Paris and currently absent from the France squad due to the injury he suffered against Turkey, Kylian Mbappé remains firmly in the spotlight. His past with PSG has resurfaced in particular, with an investigation opened following his complaint of moral harassment, notably linked to his exclusion from the first-team squad in the summer of 2023, recently ending without charges.

PSG Dispute and Ballon d’Or Controversy

The legal case is only one part of the dispute between the former PSG star and his old club. The two sides have also clashed financially over wages and bonuses claimed by Mbappé after his free transfer to Real Madrid. That battle prolonged the bitter split between the France captain and the club where he spent seven seasons. More recently, Mbappé has also found himself at the centre of another controversy surrounding the Ballon d’Or, while L’Équipe reported that his relationship with former PSG teammate Ousmane Dembélé had cooled. Both players have publicly insisted there is no problem between them.

Against that backdrop, Mbappé’s latest Instagram post has attracted particular attention. The Real Madrid forward filmed himself riding a bicycle through the countryside on Sunday with a broad smile. Nothing unusual at first glance, except for his choice of soundtrack: Les gentils, les méchants by Michel Fugain and the Big Bazar, including the line: “Who’s the really bad guy? The bad guy.”

Was it simply a joke, or a deliberate response to those who regularly portray him as being at the centre of controversy? Mbappé offered no explanation, making it impossible to know for certain. But with the Ballon d’Or debate, the reported tension with Dembélé, his still-contentious history with PSG and the criticism surrounding his every move, the timing is intriguing. More than two years after leaving Paris, PSG’s former No. 7 is still making headlines — and now appears to be having some fun with it.
