Former PSG player Ezequiel Lavezzi has been admitted to a specialized psychiatric and mental health facility in Buenos Aires.

Lavezzi’s downward spiral continues. After being injured with a knife under unclear circumstances, the former PSG player has been placed in near-isolation in a mental health clinic in Argentina.

“It’s tough. But I have to do it, I have to redirect my life, my habits. And all of this, I have to do it for my son. I had exceeded the limits. I tried to ‘cleanse’ myself alone at home, but I couldn’t. There was no choice but to come here to the clinic,” he reportedly told a close friend, according to Argentine journalist Matias Vazquez.

Lavezzi is said to be struggling with alcohol addiction primarily. In the clinic, he is in almost total isolation, without a television and deprived of his phone except for a few hours a day. Only a few close relatives will be allowed to visit him, according to L’Equipe.

“My father is undergoing treatment and is doing well. Stop inventing things that are false. He did not overdose,” commented his son Tomás on social media.
