A new logo for Portugal? Yes and no… The Portuguese Football Federation is changing its logo, but the national team is keeping the same one. Yet the confusion has been total. On social media, many supporters believed the famous emblem of the national team was going to be replaced. A simple graphic announcement then turned into a symbolic crisis, with a wave of criticism and concern surrounding the shirt worn by Cristiano Ronaldo… but also by the three PSG players.

The Seleção Reassures Its Supporters

Faced with the scale of the controversy, the FPF quickly published an official statement to calm things down. The message was clear: the historic Seleção logo will not change. The new design only concerns the institutional and commercial identity of the Federation.

“At no point was a change to the Seleção emblem considered,” the Portuguese Federation insisted. An important clarification for supporters, who are deeply attached to the symbol worn on the chest of their internationals. The FPF even reinforced its message by recalling the sacred nature of the emblem: “The symbol our players proudly wear on their chest represents an entire nation and is, and will continue to be, untouchable.”

Enough to reassure Portuguese fans, but also to put football back at the center at the best possible time. For João Neves, Nuno Mendes and Vitinha, the objective is now clear: honor this historic shirt on the pitch and continue Portugal’s journey in the 2026 World Cup.
