PSG: Dembélé, another Ballon d’Or but crowned… in London?

It is a small revolution in Ballon d’Or history. After several editions held in Paris, the ceremony will exceptionally leave the French capital in 2026 and head to London.

This is no minor change. This edition will mark the 70th anniversary of the trophy created by Gabriel Hanot, and the organizers have chosen to pay tribute to the origins of the Ballon d’Or and to its very first winner: Englishman Stanley Matthews.

Dembélé dreaming of a historic triumph

The legendary Blackpool winger won the first Ballon d’Or in 1956 at the age of 41. A British football icon, he was admired across Europe for his elegance, fair play and extraordinary professionalism for the era.

This move to London could also have a special flavor for PSG. In the middle of an exceptional season with Paris, Ousmane Dembélé is now seen as one of the major favorites to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or.

Of course, nothing is done yet for Dembouz. He will still have to win the Champions League and shine at the World Cup. But the achievement is within reach for Paris’ number 10.
