Paris Saint-Germain may have let a very good opportunity slip away. Offered to the capital club last winter, Ismael Saibari did not really convince the Parisian management. A few months later, the Moroccan midfielder is shining at the highest level and is now set to join Bayern Munich.
According to Le Parisien, PSV Eindhoven player Ismael Saibari was offered to PSG during the last winter transfer window. Paris were then monitoring several midfield profiles, but the Saibari option was not retained. The Parisian club ultimately did not move in that area, except for the signing of young Dro, a transfer-market move from Barça.
Saibari’s Rise Attracts Bayern Munich
Since then, the situation has completely changed. Ismael Saibari has reached another level with Morocco during the World Cup. Impressive, influential and decisive, the Moroccan attacking midfielder has established himself as one of the tournament’s standout revelations.
Bayern Munich, for their part, did not miss the opportunity. The German club decided to make a major move for Saibari, with a transfer estimated at €55 million. It is a significant fee, but one that confirms the player’s growing value on the European market.
For PSG, this case may inevitably leave some regrets. Paris had not strengthened their midfield last summer before later turning to other profiles. But with Saibari’s breakthrough, the question now arises: did the capital club miss out on a real bargain? Technical, powerful, able to break lines and play in several attacking positions, the Moroccan had a profile that could have suited PSG’s style. Today, Ismael Saibari is heading to Bayern Munich for €55 million, and if his progress continues, Paris may think back to this file for a long time.
