The clash between France and Spain ended with Fabian Ruiz coming out on top. During Spain’s 2-0 victory in the 2026 FIFA World Cup semi-final, the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder delivered an outstanding performance, while his PSG teammates representing France endured a difficult evening.
The PSG-versus-PSG battle clearly favored Fabian Ruiz. Starting in Spain’s midfield, he earned a 7/10 rating from L’Équipe. The Spanish international played a key role in La Roja’s control of the match, exploiting the spaces left by France’s pressing and dictating the tempo alongside Rodri with his composure and precision.
Fabian Ruiz Shines While France’s PSG Stars Struggle
It was a much tougher night for Ousmane Dembélé, who received a harsh 2/10 after failing to make an impact in attack. Bradley Barcola was rated 4/10 after trying to provide pace and penetration without much success, while Désiré Doué came off the bench but was not on the pitch long enough to receive a rating.
The rest of the French squad also received disappointing marks. Lucas Digne and Michael Olise joined Dembélé with 2/10 ratings, while Kylian Mbappé, Aurélien Tchouaméni and Didier Deschamps were all given 3/10.
Mike Maignan and Barcola finished with 4/10, whereas Jules Koundé, Adrien Rabiot and Dayot Upamecano earned France’s highest ratings at 5/10. Dani Olmo was named Man of the Match with an 8/10, but from a PSG perspective, Fabian Ruiz was the undisputed standout in an otherwise nightmarish evening for his French club teammates.
