José Sambade, former goalkeeping coach for the Spanish national team from February to July 2021, has strongly criticized Luis Enrique.

“I had the chance to work in big clubs, experience good and bad moments in each club, but honestly, my time with the national team was the worst. Since I was a child, I dreamed of reaching this level, thinking it was paradise, but in the end, it’s the closest thing to hell,” said Sambade in a radio interview with Radio Galega.

Sambade cites disagreements and “different values” between them as the source of the issues. “The people who hired me had great confidence in me, but the people I worked with didn’t count on me from the beginning. I was caught in the middle. My big mistake was starting.”

“There are people whose egos are so big that they don’t like it when you overshadow them, no matter how you do it,” he added, specifically targeting Luis Enrique.
