Luis Enrique’s Press Conference Before PSG vs Montpellier Full Recap
Luis Enrique provided an update on the team before the trip to Montpellier in Ligue 1 on Sunday night.
PSG will continue to improve. “Whether we are favorites or not, I don’t care. I have conveyed my confidence to the team; I believe we will be better, with the players’ experience in this competition. We have the same ambition as at the beginning of the season. We want to continue with our idea so that our fans are proud of us. If someone beats us, we will tip our hats. I can put anyone on the field tomorrow; they will be prepared; that’s our best advantage.”
Draws… are just draws. “It is true that we have had three draws in a row in the league; I am not concerned. We’ve had some matches beside that. We were very good against Monaco; we don’t look at the points gap; we just want to be champions as soon as possible. We want to fight for all titles. It will be difficult against Montpellier.”
“The Remontada served no purpose”
Kolo Muani has played a lot, despite appearances. “Kolo Muani has played 1,600 minutes at the highest level in his first season. I like him; I know where he should play. I encourage him, and he always does, to give his best. Ramos has played 1,500 minutes.”
The Remontada… served no purpose for Barcelona. “No, unfortunately, that Remontada served no purpose. We were knocked out by Juventus afterward, so it wasn’t the most special match of my career. PSG had won 4-0 in Barcelona. People remember me for the Remontada, but we were between life and death 15 days before. Then, the perspective changed. I remember the 4-0 and the 6-1. It’s part of history, and I am very proud of it. I wouldn’t change anything in my career. I could probably have done much better, but I gave my maximum.”
The favorites of the Champions League are on the other side. “We were lucky because we are returning to Spain; I am going back to Barcelona, where I spent most of my career. I feel wonderful there; it’s very good news. We knew the competition would give us a very difficult, top-level team. There are two sides to the draw. We will have to demonstrate on the field that we deserve to go further. The favorites are on the other side of the bracket; it will be difficult to predict. It’s very interesting.”
