Marquinhos will continue as the captain of PSG this season, and the decision was not made by Luis Enrique.

Marquinhos has been confirmed as PSG’s captain for this season. On Friday, PSG coach Luis Enrique clarified that it was the players who voted to elect their captain and vice-captains.

“There was a vote yesterday or today. As soon as I have the names, I will have no problem giving them to you,” he said in a press conference. “It’s very simple, I don’t choose the captain, the players do. They met this week. There are four captains, something defined by the players, not the coach. I want him to be their captain, not my captain.”

And according to RMC, this vote was in favor of Marquinhos. “Marquinhos will keep his captain’s armband. The defender has the support of his teammates,” journalist Fabrice Hawkins stated on Twitter. The identities of the three vice-captains are not known, but it can be assumed that they are Danilo, Mbappé, and Kimpembe. Marco Verratti seems to be heading towards a departure.
