Paris Saint-Germain have opened initial talks over a possible move for Aston Villa left-back Lucas Digne.
Could Lucas Digne make a surprise return to PSG? The French champions are reportedly planning to make a concrete move immediately after the 2026 World Cup, where the defender is currently representing France.
PSG Consider Bringing Lucas Digne Back to Paris
In anticipation of his possible departure, Aston Villa are already exploring several replacement options, including Brighton defender Pervis Estupiñán. Digne’s suitors also have a clear financial opportunity, as his contract in England reportedly includes a release clause worth less than £10 million.
The transfer would see Lucas Digne return to the Parc des Princes eleven years after the end of his first spell in Paris. Signed from Lille in July 2013 for €15 million, the young France international was initially tasked with competing against the experienced Maxwell.
During two seasons under Laurent Blanc, Digne made 44 appearances in all competitions and won two Ligue 1 titles, two Coupe de la Ligue trophies and one Coupe de France. Seeking more regular playing time, he left PSG in 2015 to join AS Roma on loan before completing a permanent move to FC Barcelona.
