As the market for midfielders reaches extraordinary levels, Paris Saint-Germain have been handed a golden opportunity: signing France international Manu Koné for “only” €55 million. The player has his heart set on Paris, yet the capital club remain hesitant. From both a financial and sporting perspective, their position is difficult to understand.
At €55 million, Koné looks like an anomaly in an increasingly inflated market. For PSG, the financial aspect should be a decisive argument. This summer, midfield transfer fees have spiralled out of control, highlighted by Sandro Tonali’s €115 million move to Tottenham and Elliot Anderson’s €135 million transfer to Manchester City.
Manu Koné Is Pushing for a Move to PSG
Compared with those fees, AS Roma’s asking price for Manu Koné looks like a genuine bargain. According to Corriere dello Sport, the Italian club must rebalance their accounts before the end of June and are therefore prepared to sell the 25-year-old for €55 million. For a modern midfielder who impressed in Serie A and shone at the 2026 World Cup, that price represents an opportunity PSG should seriously consider.
Paris also have a major advantage: the player’s determination to join them. Il Messaggero reports that Koné has rejected approaches from Arsenal and Chelsea because he wants to fulfil his childhood dream of wearing the red-and-blue shirt. PSGInside-Actu adds that his agent is actively encouraging the Parisian management to open negotiations, with the player ready to complete the move quickly.
Despite the attractive fee and Koné’s clear preference, PSG are reportedly prioritising Lille youngster Ayyoub Bouaddi. That strategy carries significant risk, especially as Lille are demanding a substantial price for their prospect. At €55 million, Koné would offer Luis Enrique immediate quality, international experience and strong value in the current market. Allowing such an opportunity to disappear could become a major strategic regret for PSG.
