As contract talks with Gianluigi Donnarumma continue to stall, Paris Saint-Germain is now seriously eyeing Lucas Chevalier as a potential successor. But the 23-year-old Lille goalkeeper has made one thing crystal clear: he won’t join PSG as a backup.
According to journalist Dominique Séverac on La Chaîne L’Équipe: “Lucas Chevalier will never come if Donnarumma is still there. He doesn’t want to fight for the spot. He’ll only sign if he’s guaranteed to be the No. 1.”
A bold stance that puts pressure on PSG’s sporting director Luis Campos, especially as LOSC is reportedly preparing for life after Chevalier.
Donnarumma stalling, PSG losing patience
On the Donnarumma side, contract renewal talks are frozen. PSG’s offer is based on incentive-heavy terms, a pay structure that’s not sitting well with the Italian’s camp. Meanwhile, the goalkeeper is said to be listening to offers from the Premier League, La Liga, and Bundesliga—Real Madrid, Man City, and Bayern Munich are all monitoring his situation.
PSG at a crossroads
Now PSG must decide: Double down on Donnarumma with a costly new deal… Or open the door for Chevalier, but only if he’s made the undisputed starter
The battle for the No. 1 shirt at PSG has officially begun.
