PSG Could Stay at the Parc des Princes Because of Roads and Parking

Paris Saint-Germain could ultimately remain at the Parc des Princes. According to several sources, studies carried out on the potential sites in Poissy and Massy have revealed a major obstacle: the extremely high cost of the infrastructure needed to improve access to any future stadium.

Everything has changed in recent weeks following the election of Emmanuel Grégoire as Mayor of Paris. The new mayor wants to keep PSG in the capital and has expressed his willingness to sell the stadium. The remaining challenges are convincing the Paris City Council and agreeing on a price, with estimates ranging from €80 million to €300 million.

Access Issues Strengthen the Parc des Princes Option

For its part, PSG appears to be moving increasingly toward this solution. The sites in Massy and Poissy are considered far from ideal, with major concerns surrounding roads, public transportation, and parking facilities. The investments required to accommodate tens of thousands of spectators under proper conditions would be enormous.

These difficulties have strengthened the possibility of purchasing the Parc des Princes, an option that has long been favored by the club. A new steering committee dedicated to the issue is expected to meet before the end of June, according to L’Équipe.

The project of building a new stadium has not been abandoned, but transportation and accessibility constraints could ultimately push PSG to reconsider its plans and remain in its historic home.
