The French Football Federation has set the date for the beginning of a new chapter in Les Bleus’ history. Philippe Diallo will present the next France head coach on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 11 a.m. during a press conference at the FFF headquarters.
Although the official statement has not revealed his identity, Zinédine Zidane is expected to succeed Didier Deschamps. The presentation will follow an extraordinary Executive Committee meeting, with the new coach officially taking charge on September 1.
Zidane’s Long-Awaited France Era Begins
Out of work since leaving Real Madrid in 2021, Zidane has waited several years for the opportunity to lead France. The 1998 World Cup winner, who lifted three consecutive Champions League trophies as Real Madrid manager, will inherit a talented squad coming off a fourth-place finish at the 2026 World Cup.

His appointment will end Deschamps’ historic 14-year reign. Since taking charge in July 2012, Deschamps has led France to the 2018 World Cup title, the 2021 Nations League trophy, the Euro 2016 final and the 2022 World Cup final. He leaves after 185 matches and a record 120 victories as France coach.
Despite a disappointing end to the 2026 World Cup, Deschamps leaves behind a team firmly established among the world’s leading nations. The press conference and the unveiling of his successor will be broadcast live on the FFF’s official YouTube channel, officially launching the highly anticipated Zidane era.
